Psychedelic Yoga: 21st May

The Psychedelic Society 8 Mackintosh Lane, London E9 6AB

Psychedelic Yoga: Yoga for the preparation, navigation & integration of the psychedelic experience

The theme of this session is ‘The Psychedelic Experience of Ego Death’. In 1964 Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner and Richard Alpert (whose work initially focused on the research into the therapeutic potential of psychedelic drugs), co-authored ‘The Psychedelic Experience.’ Based on the ‘Tibetan Book of the Dead,’ it was intended to be used as a manual to navigate the levels of consciousness which can be explored during a psychedelic ceremony and in particular the experience of ego death. In this session we will explore how this work might be used today, to navigate our own experiences, both within psychedelic ceremonies and in our daily lives.

Alongside postures, breathing techniques and philosophy, there will be a guided meditation, drawing from the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

The session will conclude with a 40 minute sound journey, created with 38” Sun Gong, shamanic drums, Tibetan singing bowls, hangdrum, flute, harmonica, ocean drum, shanti chimes, shruti box, loop station, mantras, overtone singing & medicine songs.

Doors open at 7:45pm for a 8:00pm start. The session lasts for 1hrs 45 mins. We invite you to join us for a cup of tea & social at the end of the session.

Yoga mats & blankets are provided.
